KT at the AI4Deliberation Plenary Meeting in Bamberg

On September 22–23, 2025, the AI4Deliberation project held its 2nd Plenary Meeting in Bamberg, Germany, hosted by the University of Bamberg and the City of Bamberg. The two-day meeting brought together project partners to review progress, share insights, and align on the next steps in advancing AI technologies for democratic deliberation.

Representing Konnektable Technologies Ltd., Epaminondas Koutavelis, Research Project Delivery Manager, participated in the discussions on-site, while Liam Culbert, Project Delivery Officer, joined online to deliver a key presentation on Work Package 4 (WP4): AI Toolkit, Architecture & Knowledge Graph.

AI for better Conversations

Our role in the project is to design smart tools that can support real democratic conversations — whether those happen online, in town halls, or in pilot projects across Europe.

In his presentation, Liam introduced some of the exciting tools we are building:

  • Argument mining – helping uncover and organize complex arguments so that every voice is heard.
  • AI-powered moderation – ensuring discussions remain respectful and balanced.
  • Real-time translation – breaking down language barriers so more people can participate.
  • Gamification – making deliberation more engaging and encouraging broader involvement.
Collaboration in Action

The plenary wasn’t just about presentations — it was about teamwork. Sessions covered everything from designing AI-enabled deliberation methods to preparing pilot projects that will test these tools in real communities. Workshops gave partners the chance to roll up their sleeves and figure out how all the pieces — methods, frameworks, and AI tools — will come together in practice.

Why it matters

At Konnektable, we believe that AI should serve people. By making democratic processes more transparent, inclusive, and accessible, technology can help rebuild trust and give citizens a stronger voice in shaping their societies.

We’re proud to contribute our expertise to this mission, and equally proud to be partners in the AI4Deliberation project.

The plenary in Bamberg was another step forward in turning this vision into reality — and we’re excited to see these innovations tested in the real world in the months ahead.
