AI4Deliberation

Artificial Intelligence for Institutionalised, Multimodal, Gamified, Mass Democratic Deliberations

Funded by the EU’s Horizon Europe program, AI4Deliberation aims to address key challenges in modern democracies—such as declining trust, polarization, and disinformation—by integrating AI into citizen deliberation processes.

Our Vision:

AI4Deliberation envisions a future where governments use AI to facilitate transparent, ethical, and inclusive mass citizen deliberations. By incorporating video, audio, and text in a gamified, multimodal format, deliberations will be more engaging and accessible for all.

Key objectives:

  • AI-Powered Tools: Advanced AI tools for summarization, fact-checking, moderation, and hate speech detection ensure safe, informative, and manipulation-free discussions.
  • Multimodal Engagement: Gamified, video, audio, and text-based formats enhance citizen participation and accessibility.
  • Ethical Testing: All tools will adhere to strict legal and ethical standards, tested through large-scale pilots.

The AI4Deliberation Toolkit:

Governments will gain access to a comprehensive toolkit to design, implement, and evaluate AI-enabled deliberations, fostering responsive, transparent, and inclusive governance.

By institutionalizing AI-powered deliberation, the project aims to rebuild trust in democratic institutions and promote a more engaged, ethical, and informed political landscape.
