GLITTER

Strengthening learners’ digital well-being using effective teaching practices and digital environments

Objective

The GLITTER project aims to enhance digital well-being in and through school education by developing and implementing a comprehensive, evidence-based whole-school approach. The key objectives of the project include:

  • Identifying Best Practices – Research and compile international, European, national, and regional case studies that effectively promote digital well-being in schools.
  • Defining a Whole-School Approach – Establish practical tools and strategies that integrate digital well-being into educational environments.
  • Piloting and Evaluating – Test and refine the GLITTER approach in primary and secondary schools across Cyprus, Italy, Poland, and Romania, assessing its impact on students of different age groups and subjects.
  • Developing Policy Recommendations – Formulate guidelines for integrating digital well-being into primary and secondary education policies at the European level.
  • Maximizing Visibility and Impact – Promote the project’s findings and outcomes to ensure broad adoption and long-term influence on education systems.

Expected outcomes

The project is expected to yield the following tangible results:

  • A comprehensive framework for implementing digital well-being strategies within schools.
  • A set of practical instruments to support teachers and students in fostering a safer and healthier digital learning environment.
  • A pilot study involving 20 primary and secondary schools in four EU countries, providing empirical evidence of the effectiveness of the whole-school approach.
  • Policy recommendations for national and European educational institutions to promote digital well-being.
  • Increased awareness and knowledge about digital well-being among students, educators, and policymakers.

This initiative ultimately aims to empower students to navigate digital environments safely, enhance their well-being, and maximize their potential in a digitally connected world.
